Hi, as above, been offered a second hand z4 4 plug ECU with an aftermarket chip. It can apparently be switched from the standard Map to new chip map via a switch.

Will this be any good for my car, or do I need to really go apexi fc, simtek etc?

Any help greatly appreciated.

An ecu with a chip will always be a compromise and can potentially be dangerous if not mapped suitably safe or with the same or very similar mods. Any aftermarket ecu will be fully customiseable to your current modifications and be flexible enough to enable you to go a lot further as well.

hi my ecu in scooby is a u8 but has a switch on the side of it does any1 know why this is many thanks..

your ecu will have or did have a chip fitted, the switch is to swap between the chip and original ecu map.

just get your self the apexi ecu can be had for a few 100s in the second hand part section, that way you will know your car is safe and you can sell it quite easily too later
