Default MY96 side lights issue

Hi

Yesterday after driving home from work as usual I noticed that my side lights were on. When I checked, the stalk was switched to the 'off' position.

I had to remove the fuse Whig has temporarily solved the problem, but don't want this to be my permanent fix.

Does anyone have any ideas what could have caused this, the lights were off yesterday morning and apart from driving 5 miles home, I've done nothing to the car recently!

is the switch on top of the steering wheel/column switched on?
There's a switch there thats for parking lights might be switched on.
