Can any V1 ECU have ESL attatched
Gents and mappers, can any ECU have an ESL board attached, I have opened my ECU up as its a Mines unit and taken a pic. Its a U8 ECU form a 93 WRX. I understand that soon selectable maps may be available or at least a choice !.

Umm, your ECU is not a Mines unit. If it was, resistor J1 would not be soldered in and there would be a chip in the socket in the top left corner, which is the same place the ESL is plugged into.

Mines flash the board, not add a chip according to my sources , hence the cost of them and the fact only Mines can flash them. The car was quite standard looking back through all the paperwork, It arrived with a standard exhaust , so I hope the map is not too over the top, hence I would like to keep it and use an ELS board with this ECU for extra mods and UK Fuel.

According to my sources:
...the 93~96 ecu is mappable via the spare chip slot.. the mines ecu chip goes into that slot and a resistor is cut to change control to the new chip / map.
97~98 is mapped in a similar way
Mines is a Japanese tuning company (great naming a company after a bomb).
The actual mines ecu regardless of year is not mappable by normal means.. the eeprom can be reprogrammed but I am not aware of anyone willing to do that, there are far better ways to map a car, doing it live or at least programming it without the need to remove the chip and put it in a programmer and refit it etc sees much better results.
The mines ecu is usually running very advanced timing and needs reasonably high octane fuel.. at least 99ron plus booster.. although I have seen cars still detonating on that, and however I have seen the odd one perfectly happy.
Better to save up and replace it with a mappable ecu.
