Default Ninja Downpipe with Fast flow Cat still a good buy?

Hi folks

Thinking of sports cating my bugeye (MY01) and wondered if the Ninja Downpipe with Fast flow Cat for £275.74 inc from Scooby World is still the one to go for at this price?

Any suggestions?

Anyone with one to get rid of please PM me.

got one of my classic,no problems this end, doesnt pass an emmisions test but the guy puts it thru as non catted,if warmed up well in advance it gets close but still too high on emmisons, but that might be my car being an odd one out etc

Isn't the point of a fast flow cat to pass the emissions test whilst giving minimal exhaust restriction?

That's what I thought. Otherwise we would decat. Would no remap cause problems or can the ecu cope?

Thats what they advertise them as,but i opted for it as i didnt want to remap (Z4 ECU) so it still gives a healthy emmison but not as good as a proper CAT,as i say, when very hot,it gave a near pass so it does its job but just wasnt close enough.

Ah, wonder then if without a remap that's what's causing the emissions fail? Does it give any more power than a standard cat without a remap?

you aint the odd one out,the simple fact is that they dont work efficient enough to pass an emmissions test, had one on my old car, brand new, passed the first mot,but wouldnt get through a second,in. imo they are a waste of £300 odd quid as they done actually do what it says on the tin.

So maybe the op would be better off going for a 200 cell sport cat such as a cobra, that would give a reasonable power increase but remain emissions friendly.

No problems on mine, also have straight thru centre, so 200 cell sports cat is the only cat on the system - thats on a 98 UK 2000

Go for a full decat. The £100 you save over the 100 cel cat will pay for refitting your OE cat at least twice at MOT time.
The 100 cel is pointless if it won't pass the MOT emissions test.
Alternatively go for a 200 cel sportcat which may pass MOT emissions test.

So I am now considering the Ninja Downpipe with Fast flow Cat and the Cobra equivalent.

The only difference I can see is price £275 and Cobra £235 and the fact that the cat seems to be in a different place.

Any ideas what the different cat location means? Sound difference? Emissions differences?

have you tried and tested these 200cell sports cats on cars runnning over standard power with just the sports cat in place?
do they actually pass emissions as through past experience they never work well enough.(although ive never tried the 200 cell cobra)

Hi,

Our Euro 2 - 200 cell cats should pass most MOT and take you up to a good 350+ BHP in most cases, but the bigger the power the bigger the emission levels and a cat will only take a percentage off... So if your car is running rich to start with the odds stack more and more against you.

We used to sell Euro 2 - 100 cell cats but these had a big failure rate, even on standard cars...

We do however have a new cat in which you can specially request if you run crazy power! Euro 3 - 200 cell these puppies would pass the Titanic in an MOT if she were around! More expensive but worth it to the big powered cars...

Just looking into the Turbo Gaskets also...

Any Questions ring me on 0114 2424009

Thanks

Pete
