Default Insurance company, age, premium and NCD

Hi,

I am 31 yrs old with 8 yrs NCD and drive a 2003 Jaguar Xj 4.2 v8 with 300bhp and pay £415.00 fully comp with the mrs who has no NCD.

I was quoted £1200 to insure a 2006 2.5 WRX and £1400 for 2006 WRX STI 2.5.
I am shocked and the dream of owning a wrx or wrx sti is slowly drifting away.

Can you tell me roughly how much you pay and what age you are etc and MOST importantly what company you are with?

two import factors you have missed location and occupation these can have a massive effect on the premium.

Should get it much cheaper than that. Im paying under £1400 for a 2005 STi Prodrive with Admiral, with 5 years NCB. Oh and i was 22 when i took out the policy lol.

if you havent already try the specialists who advertise in banzai and japanese performance. Is your licence clean? Social domestic and pleasure use? Car parked on the road? Every situation is different!

For the record I'm 28, full ncd in use on another policy, clean licence, hgv driver. Got a 02 wrx with a few mods £590 with sky insurance as the broker. Although it is a low mileage (5000) second car.

In my experience comparision sites are a wasted of time with a car of this nature. Keep at it and you'll get a half decent quote Im sure.

tesco have always been the cheapest for me! im 29 3 points left, full NCD, only car 10k a year in a classic mind you £400 a year.

I moved house last year the car was parked on the road, its now in a private car park, with cctv, it went up but still cheaper than the nearest quote.

I've been with Keith Michaels for 2 years and just had my renewal through, certainly a lot cheaper then you've been quoted, but experience with the marque helps as does other criteria mentioned.

Try the companies above, sky offered me same premium as Keith Micheals but Keith Michaels done protected no claims for nothing on my quote! Talk to Garry Moulson (moley^^^^^^)

I am a "civil servant" so no problems there and I stay in a quiet area. My existing policy reduced by over £200 in the Jag because this postcode is "safe".

I will defo try the names you lot gave me. These price comparison websites are useless.

I used to be insured with my 528i BMW at 23 years old and it was not as much as that.

Around £7-800 sounds about right.

Nice one...the dream of owning one is alive again.
Fancy a 2006/2007 WRX STi 2.5....

Insurance companies are horse S*%"!

im 28, clean licence, no accidents or claims, 5 years NCB have a sti version 6 and none of the specialist will touch it because of the postcode i live in BB2.....

rang a plan and they said its alot of people in my area....

I have had no choice but to sell my car and im absolutely gutted!!!!

If the insurance was alot like the people on here are getting quoted then i would never get rid of my STI....

its on ebay and pistonheads.....
