Default air box smoothing...??

hi there.
i have just got rid of the hks style mushroom filter and iam goin to re place it with the standard air box unit with a performance fillter....
was just wundering if its worth smoothing out the air box on the in side ... to allow better flow.

i done this on my mk4 golf turbo but also added a better feed in and the results were there for not alot of work.. and it also keep the standard look under the bonnet.
