hey got a 98 type-r which has developed a problem starting. seems to be picky when it does it. when get in and turn key, the main engine lights (managment, handbrake, oil etc) come on but are quite dim. if anythin else is switched on like the internel light, they die all together. there is also like a buzzing noise comming from the right hand side of the dash when the key is turned. noticed it does this noise then the doorlock is switched but does not lock the passenger door. anyone got an idea of whats the problem. electric guys cant see it till next week. i could go to car right now and its a 50/50 chance of it doin it.

sounds like the alternator bud stik a meter on it should show about 14v..mines ws the same i just got 1 from the scrappies

 

ps check the tension on the belt as well as they can slip but not screech

Yeah thought it mite hav been earth but lookin fine. Wouldn't be the belt I done think as it will light up one try, then the next it wouldn't, that's without the engine turnin over.it may be it if the engine turned but not without turnin. Wud I b right with that? Turbo timer showin bout 13-14 volts. Cud it still b altenator?
