ithink engine would go straight in with a remap on ur existing ecu recomended, even ur exisiting transmission would be direct fit!

It would be better to change the loom imho, as your ecu is a 4 plug ecu and can not be mapped and a P1 is a 3 plug ecu which can be mapped .While your there you might as well have the diffs and the box as well.

Use the P1 bottom end and your existing heads, easiest way to fit it saves messing with the wiring loom you will just need the correct thickness headgasket but a remap is a must. The brakes, hubs and wheels will bolt to you existing shafts no problem.

Probably cheaper to get an esl daughterboard or and apexi than changing the loom

Banny as usual is bang on the money here.

The easiest way to do this is to just use the bottom end from the P1 and use your exisitng heads. Anything else is doable but its costly in time, effort and cash.

right, ecu can be mapped with the help of an esl live map. but a preg should be a facelift model
unless your completly changing the wiring loom, the engine is usless
there phase 2, differnt heads.
regards to the box, you wil need the box/diff/shafts & gear lincage as its all differnt.
i did this my self, back to the engine, the block dont work well with your standard heads.
you'd better to really get an sti block, and get a good set of phase 1/1.5 heads then a mappable ect mate

The cost an time of changing the loom would you no be easier just getting an aftermarket ECU an then have it mapped?

iv got every thing off the p1 as its a crashed damaged car so the looms and such are easy to get but how hard are they to change.ithink the best bet is to just change the box as the wrx engine if got is fine just thought as the extra power is ther i might aswell look into changin it. soo all i need it the box diffs shafts linkage hubs n wheels? thanks

your hubs will be ok. but the shafts need changing. the lincage will and the diff

the ecu, will be needed along with the wiring. becouse if you change the whole engine, the inlet manifold will have differnt sensors/wiring ect.
(phase 2 heads/manifold)

What benefit is there then for just changing the bottom end (using the p1 on the wrx heads) i mean,if your swapping bottom ends (crank/rods/big ends etc) why not just renew the current wrx big end shells ,or am i misisng something ? (probably)

the pistons are better, but wrx heads dont work as good as sti heads.
the low down grunt just isnt there. i did this awhille back, sti piston, but with uk heads.

once mapped. just couldnt get that low down torque.
