Turbo inlet size??
I have bought one of these... not fitted yet, but looks good quality.

I think it's a "DIN" sandard and its 2.25" -- or 57.15mm.
So really. a silicone with an internal diameter (ID) between anywhere around 56mm to 60mm will fit. 56mm will require a bit of a push (lube with washing up liquid), before securely clamping down with the jubilee clip.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am going to remove my MAF and was considering moving the air filter up under the main scoop with a bit of heat shield - wouldn't mind peoples opinions?!

If so, then yeah there's nothing stopping you doing that... If you can achieve it!
Would be a bit a of torturous route for the necessary custom intake pipework to run from there to the turbo intake though - extra bends and all that...
Personally though, I wouldn't - for the reason that musso has cited above.

Yes, the car already runs MAFless although I haven't removed the MAF yet
I will also fit a catch can so the inlet will be just a pipe with an air filter on the end
The route looks pretty easy to me, the turbo is top entry so if i turn the inlet by approx 180 degrees the entry will point at roughly the right place, I can support the air filter with a couple of brackets bolted to the old I/C mounts (FMIC already fitted) it should get plenty of cold air - especially as I have a large STi8 scoop fitted.
Should get some weird looks and disapproval from the "thats not a Scoobynet approved mod" brigade

Oh yes, of course - forgot about that. Yeah the route will be very direct then. 
No reason why you can't, logically speaking. The SN clan can be an industrious bunch. 
As said, the only thing that could be an 'issue' is torrential rain choking the filter...???

Prob will be okay when your going fast -- but I can see it being a potential problem when 'city' driving. Big downpour I'm talking about, not light or fleeting rain.
Prob be okay on a thoroughly warmed up engine though, regardless.

it plums to the resonator, if your turning the intake the resonator wont fit, you will need a take off some where on the intake for the car to tick over, it will stall with out it. apexi do a alloy elbow with the 25mm(i think could be 20mm) take off for the icv
