Default horrible feeling fuel filter incorretly fitted!

I have been having some problems with my engine just cutting out, so i thought i might just have a mooch about under the bonnet.....

The 'OUT' pipe on my fuel filter points towards the bulkhead and the 'IN' pipe goes to the engine block !! Can anyone confirm that this is incorrect (or correct !!) -- also, what sort of problems might incorrect fitting cause (filter was changed my my Garage two years ago)..

Car == MY00, Clasic Wagon, no mods

thanks

The IN side should be coming from the rear of the car (from the pump in the tank). The OUT should be going to the fuel rail inlet on passenger side of the inlet manifold.

Sounds as if it IS **** about face.

It does sound like its fitted wrong, but,i would of thought, unless theres like an anti drain valve or some sort of valve inside it shouldnt matter what way round its fitted,as its just an in,thru the filter then out system ?????

but fit it the right way to find out LOL

Yeah, it is a bit poor for ANY so called garage to fit a fuel filter round the wrong way...... Esp. when it has IN and OUT on it!!! LOL.

As above, assuming the filter element is NOT 'handed' in any way, then it prob won't matter. That said, I would not **** around with the fuel system, as if the rail doesn't get the correct "litres per hour" flow to it, then could end up as bye bye engine.
