Speed delimiter and dial replacement for 93WRX
#1
Just wondering if anyone knew how easy / possible it is to get my 93WRX top whack limiter removed.
I guess I need the gadget to recalibrate the speedo, then I have to fit the new dials.
Is it possible for this to be done without any special equipment?
And do you know how difficult it is to take the instrument cluster out and fit a new speedo dial ?
I guess it would need calibrating?
Anyone know of any good deals at any garages?
Cheers,
Alex

Hi mate it is pretty simple...
Restrictor is mechanical on a 93 scooby so it is a case of getting a little gadget that fits between the speedo cable and gearbox... Basically speedo cable is removed from gear box side then screws into gadget you buy which then connects to gear box where cable was.. This removes speed restrictor and converts KMH to MPH.. If you have 180KPH clocks this means they will now read in MPH!!! Had it done to mine with minimum fuss!!

Only problem is my current speedo is in MPH (it has kph in small print) but full deflection is 110mph, so I think this means it needs calibrating to a new/different range speedo dial? (rather than just a straight mph to kph conversion)?
Nice one though I'll give Paul a call and check out prices.
Was after doing as much work myself as possible to save money!

regards fitting dials check out http://www.sastech.co.uk/howto/whitedials_to96.htm although i did have many a problem with just using the 2 spoon technique as i stuffed my rev dial workings which took no end of fun replacing but eventually melted needle off with a soldering iron which in heinsight (& £100 or so later) if u can get spare needles is safest way. But dont get me wrong is easy enuff 2 do da general dash removal just gota b carefull when it gets 2 da nitty gritty

Cheers Si will check that out nice one must take care with instrument cluster !
Still not sure what I need in terms of calibration / conversion though, I guess I need a converter which is matched to a dial with a specific range?
jmca for prices check out Scoobysport website, Graham Goode Racing etc...good links to sites on www.sidc.co.uk (in link section)
