Unless you have an FMIC and therefore have to get rid of the airbox, there is no benefit from fitting a cone air filter. I know this because I've done it and removed it after some time. I had a friend whose (smallish) cone air filter became so restrictive with time that his turbo could not spool, he went back to the stock air box as well.

I saw a comparison at one time that showed that most cone air filters do not filter adequately, I can't seem to find the link at the moment.

So my advice is if you don't NEED it, you probably shouldn't fit it.

Thanks for the input, and regarding the threads about the CAI being worse then OEM, your right.. I have read the same, however if you map for the CAI then you gain.... as long as you do it properly.

From what I understand the Standard Airebox becomes restrictive at the 400bhp mark, and a Induction kit is require to hurddle over this. So with the mods being a GT30 along with some other supporting mods (no FMIC at this stage) I believe that the OEM intake will struggle.

My mapper even insisted that the stock Air box box be removed

Rob

In that case have a look through the Projects section, a lot of the projects are using FMICs and therefore have cone filters, you will get a good idea of what is most popular.

Thanks, but it seems (without taking a better look) Difficult to see what will fit in the wing, and I assume in this case bigger is not always better as getting it in is one thing, and if its too compact in there will it not hinder air flow?

Advice guys, I shall now trawl through the Projects as said.

Cheers

Hi Rob mostly people use Big cones due have better flow etc.
And if you want go via CAIK route have look for AEM,Injen or APS Cold air induction kits.

Hey Jura,

Ive bought a Japspeed kit as I have been told that they are very good value for money and they will do the job nicely (informed by a mapper).

However the Filter on them is said to be not up to the job that I want it to do. Apprantly they are fine as is for 300-350, but not beyond

So my kit is already bought. If its deemed as no good I'll sell on and start again

The kit looks a lot like this if its a Japspeed:

Hi Rob at first replace air element for something like this http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68795-kn...er-filter.aspx
Which are used on AEM,Injen,APS as direct replacement or you can have look for Green Cotton.
