classic TDO5 20g to a blobeye sti
Hi all,
I have done a little research and i have read that you have to do a bit of work in order to it BUT some people have said you dont.
Could someone please confirm whether a classic TD05 20g in a Blobeye Sti?
Am i right in thinking i can achieve high 300bhp maybe 400bhp?
Many thanks
Gary

its a 360 to 380 bhp turbo and if its off a classic newer than 97 then yes it should fit straight on, but on a blobeye sti you would benefit more from fitting a md321h IMO. although you would need a different oil feed pipe because on a newage sti it shares oil with the avcs rather than a direct feed from the block like a non avcs car, so the fittings on the two pipes are different.

its from this 2001 P1

I know a mD321h will be more beneficial but i am planning on rebuilding the engine in about a years time to a 2.33 and combine it with a md321t.
I will be happy with 380bhp for now... is there a guide on the oil feed lines? or is it quite a simple procedure?

yes it would fit mate, but you would need a different oil feed pipe as that car hasn't got avcs heads and yours has so they have different pipes. depends how skeptical you are about reliability, im going down a md321t route in a few months on my standard sti engine. these newage sti engines can take whatever the t throws at them and in some cases more.

Hi matey you can fit TD05-20G on your car without problem,on STi will be great upgrade you can manage(with genuine TD05) easily 380-390bhp(with little luck maybe over 400bhp),and about MD321 is hard to find used MD321H or MD321T,i would recommend 20g,but genuine 20g not chinese copies from eBay.

The 20g will drive nicely on your car matey. I agree that the h is a better turbo and will spool faster and will maybe see a few more ponies if pushed but for £300 quid, the 20g is prob half the price of a second hand h if you can find one, with very similar performance. The 20g is rated as a 400bhp turbo at circa 1.4 bar. my 18g made 385bhp at circa 1.5bar with little effort on my 99 uk turbo.
IMHO, running a MD321T on a standard 2.0ltr would be stressing the engine considerably, some people say it won't, others have ran them with no issues.
My dad ran a t on a 2002 sti, didnt like it, and within 2 months was running a built 2.5.
A T would however be stonking on your planned 2.33 build pal aswell as a 2.5.
i say get the 20g, stick in on, enjoy the car and put the cash you'd save from not getting a h towards the build.

thank you everyone for the great advice!!!
I am going to buy the td05 20g, cant really go wrong for £300. Plus i can sell my VF35 for a similar price anyway...
Regarding the gaskets for it, where do i get them? where would i get the new oil feedline from?
am i right in guessing since the td05 20g (classic) has two oil feedline, i will need to get a line which has some sort of splitter on it as the newage only has one?

I have a brand new oil feed line sitting here if interested.
I have a MD321T on my Spec c & it is awesome, not even mapped to its full potential due to exhaust restriction. Fitting a MD321T with the 76mm intake is not as easy to fit as people think. The T with 58mm intake is a better fitment but you still need to grind the gearbox for it to sit properly.
I got my oil line modified by Pirtek hose solution.
