Default Powder coating intercooler pipework

Thinking of having the pipework for my front mount powder coated... My concern is though, as I know nothing with regards to powder coating aluminium and the process, will the piping closest to the turbo (that obviously gets untouchably hot) be too hot for the coating and melt it?

Not sure what others have done when it comes to painting their pipes but have seen lots around.

The powder coating stuff is baked at 400 C, I guess to melt it - so unless your pipe is getting up to 300+ C I would expect it to be fine.

Too hot to touch is usually around 60 - 70 C.

Just use enamel engine paint which is good for over 500c & some enamel clear hardener for extra shine.

You sure about that?

Last time I checked my powder, it cured at 180C for 10 min

For the pipes closest the turbo, I would suggest ceramic coating on them... anything after the the front mount will be fine with normal powder coat

Mark : All four pipes can be powder coated and there are no temperature issues to affect the powder coat. This is something we get done regularly in numerous colours. Exit temperature from the compressor is often over 100C at WOT and in extreme cases up to 200C
The powder coating electrostatic process bakes at 200C.
Do NOT coat the core as it badly affects its ability to disipate heat.

If you get the pipes down to me Mark I will get them done for you at cost but that depends on the condition they are in.
