any impreza wants running on 97-99 fuel imo think my old uk car years ago even said super unleaded on the filler cap just have it mapped to what ever fuel you use most (tesco/shell)

iirc a uk ecu wont work in wrx but a wrx ecu will work in a uk.
if a uk ecu is chipped with a scoobyecu or similar then it will work (i know cos i run a uk ecu with major sarcasm chip in my wrx).
a superchip is not the same though. if your referring to what i think you are then a "superchip" only ups the boost. they are not the same as a scooby ecu and they will not allow a uk ecu to work in a wrx.

i cant find the post by scott t but i remember something about the speedos been different (electronic vs mechanical) and that uk ecu wont work in import.
have you been offered one with a "superchip" or a scoobyecu/other chip?

here you go. it will run but could flash the check engine light (probly due to the speedo)
it will only then be 208 bhp too!

problem is, his chipped uk ecu will still need 97 ron fuel as most chips are mapped for 97 ron or more.

I ran a 7D UK ECU in an MY95 WRX and it ran fine, albeit slower as the bhp dropped.

The check engine did flash but it wasnt due to the speedo (as both uk and import MY95 are mechanical speedo) but it flashed because the import doesnt have a Purge control solenoid for the carbon cansiter,so the ecu triggred a check engine flash as it wasnt getting a reply back from the solenoid, had no ill effect on running tho

i didnt see the benefit really in running the 7D uk ecu over the Z4 ecu as really its only about £4 more expensive on a tank full of optimax over regular fuel and i didnt see the point in losing all that bhp

In that case then, you can run your car just fine on tesco 99 or vpower, as they didnt have the super high octane stuff there in 92-93

That is of course you are running the standard wrx ecu
