Well if you held 1.5bar to the redline you would probably break something so yes, it sounds right, you also wont get full power in 1st or 2nd, 3rd has more, 4th and 5th has the most boost available to it.
What other mods do you have on the car for it to run 1.5bar?

Tony

ive read similar threads on other forums before.
I think it depends on the limits of your injectors. the boost tails off at higher revs if your injectors are near their limit. if you have injectors capable of producing more power than your turbo, then the map wouldnt tail the boost off so much at higher revs, if at all

Turbo cant flow the air at the top.

If that is on original turbo 1.5bar is way too high.

Is the car setup and mapped?

Sounds like you need to check what turbo.

If on the original td04 then 1.5bar is too high, if on a larger turbo then it would have to have had the injectors uprated already unless that is why the boost drops so dramatically.

Your car would normally have a TD04 turbo. If you want to clarify your spec send an e-mail to bob.rawle@btinternet.com along with VRN and name of previous owner and he will have the spec when he last mapped it.

What your car is doing is normal within the confines of the accuracy of your boost guage. The boost an engine makes is dependant on load so the load in 1st gear is low but by the time you get to 4th gear load is sufficient for the turbo to develop full boost. 5th ditto.
The TD04 is a relatively small but quick spooling turbo and as such does not flow a great amount of air. It is therefore natural for the boost pressure to drop off as revs increase beyond around 5,500rpm.

Normally a TD04 is absolutely fine at 1.4 to 1.5 bar at the outset, given its so small it can't maintain boost at the top end so will naturally taper down to about 1 bar at the red line, thats absolutely normal. Email me the reg, previous owner etc and I can easily check the spec for you, but use rbr@brdevelopments.com please not the bt address.

If you have defi boost gauge then thats going to be reading high so your 1.5 peak would be 1.35 to 1.4 under those circumstances.

cheers
