My engine has been sort of knocking since i hit a speedbump yestarday and i thought i would see if it still performed well so i gave it a quick blast through the gears and in 2nd at full throttle it sort of hit a limiter at 5k rpm and it just didnt pick up any more speed and it also made a faint sound twice like phut phut when it hit the sort of limiter with my foot still full throttle what could this be as it has always done this in first at around the same revs and then carried on but only ever happens in 1st and 2nd what could this be??? Also if my bottom end was knocking would the Check engine light come on???

ur cel won't come on if the bottom end is knocking, i would check to see if u ain't split ur sump and have no oil left in engine, the rpm limit on ur car should be either 6800 or 7200 as on mine, so @ 5k it may be fuel/boost cut, do you have any electronic/manual boost controllers fitted, you may have a pipe that has split or plug come loose, check coil packs as i had a cracked pack and it would boost fine upto around 4500k but anything over that i was hitting boost/fuel cut but it was beacuse it was not sparking properly as it was earthing out, so check above and let us know

ok thanks p600wrx could this cause the engine to be knocking if the plugs or coil pack are stuffed and ive checked the sump all is okay do you think a oil change could help?
