Another boring oil question but i have researched.
Hello everyone.i know oil has been covered alot but i am new to subarus and i have looked up old threads.basically i am now a very happy owner of a impreza sti which is a year 2003.the mot is due this week and i want to do an oil and filter change.after reading various info on here and other places i have bought mobil 1 grade 5w 30 fully synthetic.all i would like to know is if it will be ok,or should i have bought another grade of oil, also the car is standard and has only covered 25thousand miles.any advice appreciated thankyou.

That oil will be fine, I have a 2003 WRX with 75K, I was going to get some 5W30 for mine but seeing as I have 75K I went for some thing a little thicker (Silkolene PRO S 5W-40 Ester Synthetic Oil) as the engine has seen a few more miles than 25K.

Hi, I had tried Mobil 1, and found it not very good, it was the same grade I have been using for a while, and just didn't seem the same. Went back to the stuff I have been using, and much better. Motul 300v.
Its your car, so see how you get on with it.
If you need questions answered ask oilman on here.

thanks for the advice.car will be staying standard for now as its fast enough but will probebly get use to the power eventually, freind of mine today reckons he knows a bit about subarus and said there not worth engine modding due to how much it costs,i reckon he.s talking out of his ****. I will be doing a fair bit of research on here and other places in the next coming months on the engines, also get some pictures of the car aswell.thanks again

We've been really busy, so that could be part of it, but we're also using a new courier to make the postage a little cheaper and they aren't quite as fast as Fed Ex. We're looking at getting another courier in as well so there will be two different postage services. Have you contacted us about the time it's taking yet?

Oilman has been asked this same question a million times, I am sure they will be happy to answer it but I spent around half a day reading up on threads as I was a little unsure, I was going to use the 5W30 that the hand book recommend but after my research I went 5W40 to add a little more thickness and protection, I decided to stay with 5W for the cold protection of the turbo, 10W40 is what I normally put in am average run about family car, it would be fine to use in your car but the thing with a lot of oils is that it is down to user preference, it is when you start going to above 10W that the problems arise with high numbers like 50s & 60s as there too thick of a design for a standard factory engine.
My advise is make the decision your feel most comfortable with.
