Default Engine flush?

I'm looking at doing an oil change shortly and was just wondering if I can use some sort of engine flush after I had drained the old oil? A lad u know used to use wynns and I seen the crap that come out with that so thought I'd give it a go!

I have read previous threads on engine flush and from what I remember it's not recommended - I'm sure you will have more replies to make an informed decision

Definately not!

It's not recommended to use engine flush many turbocharged engines. Subaru being one of them.

Sound, the only reason I ask is these engines seem to like things done a certain way from what I've read and heard

Another no from me. I did it once and it ran like plop and also stank. I had to do three more oil changes to get it all out. Dont know why its bad for boxers but there ya go.

There is no need to flush the engine and flushing can be harmful. What can happen is the flush can loosen harmless deposits in the engine, but then not remove them. Your new oil goes in and after it gets warm and is flowing nicely, the bits which are loosened come off into the oil, so you end up with hard bits floating around in your oil - the last thing you want. If you really want to flush the oil system, the best thing you can do is drain out the oil that is in there, put in some cheap (the cheapest you can find) mineral oil and run the car for 15 minutes to an hour so the oil gets nice and warm. After running it, drain out the mineral oil and put in the correct oil.

Cheers

Tim

'Scoobynet members get at least 10% discount at Opie Oils'

should of said 'a pleasure to deal with' to.

i am in no way affiliated with opie oils or oilman, lol.

Just ordered millers CFS from opie oils last friday before finding out about the deal next week haha. I just use Subaru oil filters. Never had any reason to use any other. What about you?

Doug

Hi Doug

I only found out about it yesterday afternoon, otherwise we would have told you. I have a feeling there won't be free shipping with that one.

Cheers
