Default Oil burning engine blown - advice please

I have got a standard classic UK99 that had the bigend fail last year. This was repaired under warranty from main dealer but new rings were put in on there advice and since then it has burned alot of oil. (0.5 litre every 100-150miles) After a couple of thousand miles it finally gave up and is only firing on 3 with one very badly oiled up. Suspect no compression on said cylinder.

Would the oil burn cause damage to the cylinder head and valves because the mixture is not correct. I was told that running the car with that amount of oil going through it would be OK as long as the levels were topped up, and in time it would settle down.
Before I go further with work or repairs it would be good to get any advice.

Thanks

Back to the dealer, the engine should have a warranty on the work done if at a main dealer.
