Default MD321 T ON A STOCK 2.0L OPINIONS

As per title

looking for some feedback on how suitable a md321t would be on my bug sti on stock engine internals with supporting mods--

gt spec headers with harvey uppipe to aid spool
3"turbo back revolution system
800cc injectors
3 port boost cont solenoid
remap

are these turbos ideally suited to built/forged 2.5l engines or can they be made to produce good results on the 2.0l

hopefully people who have a 321 t fitted to theyre 2.0l stock engine can share theyre experiances - good and bad, possible problems etc

cheers

On WRX will be laggy i'm affraid(around 4k-4.5k RPMK you will be hitting full boost),if you have JDM WRX turbo will be much better spool up,due AVCS....

But personally i would go for MD321H for WRX,or SC46 which are also good turbo

I had a "H" on mine and it made around 390 bhp... but the car has always had a late spool up.

So with a 2.1 planned I swapped to an AET Turbos "T" equivalent, and she's making well over 400 bhp and spools around 3500 rpm. Then wallop !

T here on standard internal 04 STi. It works brilliant and imo is marketed wrong as it is suited to 2 litres but I would love to try it on 2.1!

Jura,

you seem to be giving out a lot of advice wihtout actually reading the op post properly.. he has AVCS heads as it is the STi.. this graph is Terry's time attack car I did years ago without AVCS heads so not a good comparison

i would be a litte worried running over 400bhp on bug eye on standard internals but then to be fair it does depend on how healty your engine is, if you not worried if it blows up and then build a 2.1, i have seen bug eye uk engines spit the dummy at standard power i think its a case of luck and also looking after your enigne if you do go to that power

I ran a T on a 2.0 STI 4, brilliant turbo, no issues with spool or lag. I now run a S215 on that car which is bigger still with great results.

Run one on mine and totally love it. Very similiar spec to what the Op is planning.

Makes 1 BAR by 3100 RPM and holds 1.5 BAR to the redline. Actually feels less laggy than the VF35 it replaced.

md321v on the 2.5 clutch yes as its only done 4k miles lol probs wont last long .. might even slip at mapping but i'm on the look for a cheap twin plate otherwise just going to buy a new act clutch which are around 400

lets see what the 2.5 clutch can do as with the syvecs im going to be running multiple maps so can always redo my 'performance/meth' map again if clutch slips.

Eddy

p.s. the vf48 is going in for a map tweak next week rob.. only mod will be ecu change in prep for the md321v

the same one i recommended? That torque rating sounds like u went for the street disk

And ive known someone 2 run this clutch on an s206 at 460 for near 20k road miles

I'm still considering Syvecs, but on standard ECU i can run without problem 500bhp(with bigger MAF tube or Blow Through Maf,with AVC-R or run via Speed Density)...
About ACT clutch,i go at summer for ACT Clutch and 6speed,if its hold auto box 450bhp to summer will be perfect.
Good luck Eddy

Noo

You recommended the 6 puck unsprung disc which would be a right biatch for daily use & would wear out quicker due to absorbing heat, plus it shortens the spline life on the input shaft.

The street disc is ideal for daily use whilst taking a good old hiding

I am assuming 460 is hp?

yeah i recomended that act clutch kas for cost etc, the disk option is entirely yours, like i said frm the torque rating u quoted.i knew u had gone for the street disk option.

And yeah 456/415

I ran a standard ap racing clutch for 4 years and launched it 50+ times up the quarter until it died

451bhp 417lbs/ft

Think i was lucky lol

That was on a 2.0 with a T, i'd recommend the T for a Newage

i have a md321t fitted to my 99 forged 2.0 engine running standard uk heads, before i fitted this turbo people kept talking about how laggy the turbo was and it was only suited to a 2.5l, looking back now they were talking absolute **** and had probably never driven a 2.0 with a t on it, before i had this turbo i had a td0620g it was on full boost by 4k hitting 1.7 bar the turbo pulled all the way to the red line and felt incredable to drive. now with the t i hit full boost 1.8 bar by 3.8k the turbo now feels like someone has slapped u in the face and pulls even harder to the red line.

in regards to the first post this turbo will be ok i dont know if u will be able to run as much boost but cing that u have avcs ur spool will be a wee bit better.
