BOV - Idiot In Need Of Help Please
Ok, these will see like the most basic questions so ill apologize in advance...
But, what does it mean by Plumb Back when referring to BOVs ?
I know a recirc valve recirculates the air/pressure whatever
The common BOV replacements are atmospheric / Release into open
So whats plumb back??
Also, I've only just come to read (even tho tuning garages / Simon (JGM) have driven my car) that flutter is bad?? My current HKS SSQV does what I always called "Chattering" ... is that bad?
My HKS has got worse in the 3 years I've had the car, so I've just bought a TurboSmart Supersonic BOV off of crazyspeedfreak in the For Sale section.
When explaining the next bit - I am facing the car, bonnet open, looking at the engine....
My HKS currently is attached to what i think is the Cold return?? Its a chrome pipe going from the bottom right of the FMIC, up, and back over the right side, curve near the back, where there is a T (i say T - its not a joint, the chrome pipe is a 1 piece solid tube) which has a small rubber hose that then attached to the HKS flange. The HKS also has a much smaller hose that goes off to the actuator? or where-ever it goes too lol.
I read this over at the turbosmart site:
Source: http://www.turbosmartonline.com/inde...id=467#c003300
So now I'm just really confused! What should I do? I intended to literally just switch the HKS with the better condition TurboSmart ... is that ok?
Many thanks in advance

Patrick,
When you added the intercooler, you added more volume of boosted air the BOV needs to bypass to stop the flutter.
To eliminate it completely, you will need to use one of our plumb back BOV’s and use a HKS flange adapter to fit it together. Then you will need to plumb back the return to the inlet of the compressor.

Ahha! Thanks both for the info - I suppose I should have guessed that really!
Heres my spec (copied and pasted from an old post):

Full Blue oversized hose kit
Front mounted intercooler
Blitz turbo timer
HKS SSQV adjustable dump valve
Chrome Header tanks e.t.c
Lowered on PINK suspension kit
Rays Engineering alloys
STI CLOSE GEAR RATIO GEARBOX
apexi power fc programmable ecu
Apexi STI 3/4 Power FC Hand Commander
Apexi AVC-R Control unit
Defi Gauges with control unit for record/playback (turbo, oil pressure, oil temp)
V1/2 Apexi induction kit
Drilled/grooved discs all round
Full Stainless steel HKS exhaust system
Apexi 800 injectors
Equal length headers
Brembo Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
Jap fuel filter
STI RA Manifold
STI Spoiler

I should point out that I don't have the original recirc valve, I bought the car 3 years ago with the work just done. Its about 330bhp @ wheels (RR)
Is the turbosmart supersonic no good then? what about the "Chattering" that the current HKS does?
