personally i wouldnt be to worried, just looks like a used pad to me. its not on the friction material is it?
thats just how the friction material fixes to the backing. why did you remove them?

It's just the back plate but i'm worried about it getting worse, if it does i'll contact Ferodo.

Was checking out a grinding noise, was nothing to do with the pads though.
