no spark or fuel to the injectors
just fitted a new engine in to my 2001 wrx impreza and i'm having problems getting a spark, well i'm sort of getting a spark this is the odd thing on the left side of the engine one of the coil packs sparks only once on turning over the engine the other coil pack dose nothing,on the right side of the engine one coil pack dose nothing the other sparks like normal.the coil packs all worked fine on the old engine so can rule out them beeing at folt.
has any one any ideas how i can sort this?thanks

i'v checked the plug that conects to the the coil and i'v found i'v got 12v also theres an earth but i'm not getting anything from the ecu i dont think its the cam or crank sensor as i'v no folt on the ecu. when i'm connected to the ecu through my laptop i'v checked to see if i'm getting a signal off both sensors witch is showing up as a 1 (think that shows there working).is there anything eles i can check? One more thing to add i'm getting no fuel to the injectors ether.

did you rebuild the engine yourself? the reason i ask is if someone has rebuilt your engine they could have put the wrong the toothed crank pulley on, if they have put the wrong one on this is why you are getting intermittent sparks as if the wrong pulley has been fitted the trigger points will be in the wrong place, the best thing to do to eliminate this is to remove the crankshaft sensor, then you look down through the hole and count the trigger points, if this makes any sense.

hi no i brought the engine second hand from a breakers i had to fit my inlet manifold plus loom it came with sensors fitted witch i left in at first.
but i'v swoped the cam sensor with the one out of the other engine as i know it was working,i went to change the crank sensor as well but it snaped wilest getting it out the old engine :-(

its definitely worth checking the trigger points on the crank sprocket then.

that will be your problem then swap them over, and i think the nsf inlet pulley has the different trigger points aswell.
