Exclamation Bugeye Exhaust Question - loss of performance

Hi all

just a quick question, i have just had fitted a 3" turbo back system with a centre section with resinator pipe and a cobra back box with a 4" slash cut

now it seems i have lost a bit of performance it doesnt seem to be as quick as before when the standard ( stock ) system was fitted

on my last 2 WRX cars i have had 2.5" turbo back systems without any problems.

Could any one shed an light on this please

i think a remap would be needed if you go straight through with 3" you only really need to go 3" if you have higher bhp ie 320+

Did you change the gaskets? The turbo-downpipe gasket could be blowing, I dont know if that could cause loss of performance?

+1 for the above ,just because you go from a 2.5 inch system to a 3 inch system does not guarantee you will see more power. .Most mappers will tell you that a decent 2.5 ' inch system is more than adequate unless your thinking about serious power or a stage 3 remap.

if youve gone from a catted system to de-cat which i read you have then its possible its boost spiking then cutting it for safety. a re-map is in order on most new age cars when de-catting as the ecu can be very sensitive

you may well have, but different cars do behave in different ways. Even same year and models. In my own experience with fitting a de-cat albeit to an sti a re-map was a must as i was seeing boost spiking of between 22 & 25 psi then the ecu pulled it. could visable see it on a boost guage.
