Even if you do use some boost it isn't likely to explode spontaneously, it's an intercooler not a NOS kit... I ran mine for a month till I could get to a mapper. Better to stay out of the boost as much as possible, just in case.

Give it a good thrash, and let me know how you go on, so I know what to do.

as above i am with dunx i ran mine for around a month also with no remap in one of my old classics and drove as normal boosting when required, yes it needs a map tweak to adjust the parameters accodingly but it wont blow up or anything, its not as bad as some scare mogers would have you believe

Look at it this way mate:

People who say drive gently till remap wrong = You get where you're going a bit slower for the next 5 days

People who say you can give it the beans are wrong = engine build circa 3k. And I'm guessing they aint going to chip in!

Common sense!

Every FMIC supplier/mapper I have ever spoken to has said: keep it off boost until it's mapped.

Even a small change to the inlet tract or change of air filter can make a big change to fueling requirements which can cause the engine to run way too lean in places with the possibility of nipping a piston in the bore. This is not theory but what I observe from the WB lambda during checking or mapping. Many others with similar equipment have made exactly the same observations.
Now add an FMIC into the mix and if it is an efficient intercooler it will need more fuel to make more power. The reason for fitting an FMIC is to reduce ACTs and add power. You cannot reduce ACTs effectively without needing more fuel so it is obvious that if an efficient intercooler core is chosen you need more fuel and not adding it will cause weak running and potential damage. This is not scaremongering but sound advice. The fact some people have got away with it means just that. You may not be so lucky but who cares. Your engine your choice.
If you fit an FMIC, drive the car hard and get away with it there are several things to consider.
Is the FMIC efficient and doing the job it is supposed to do?
How much over fueled was the car previously?
How much better would the car go with a remap?

Nothing to stop you running the car gently until your remap but no WOT, particularly in the turbo spool area.

I have just put a FMIC on my sti and it runs for a few mins then starts running lumpy and stalls. There is a massive smell of fuel. Hopefully will get mine mapped today got my own ecu just finishing now and be on the car by lunch

If it's running lumpy and not holding idle, you may have a leak in the pipework mate.
