Exclamation Urgent please help- import 1999 engine into uk 1999??

Hi peoples,
Will a import 1999 forester engine go into my 1999 uk turbo impreza? What differences are there?
Really could do with an answer quick if possible guys, looking at buying an engine today

Cheers

Iirc the forester engine is a little bit de-tuned. I think it has different timing, and depending on what engine its from could only be 170bhp.

If it was me i would look for an engine specifically for an impreza.

Cheers guys. It's a wrx engine (whatever difference that makes lol), I would put my cams out off the shagged impreza engine in it anyway and the turbo and throttle body. It's just the forestor lump is all I can find around my area. Am I likely to experience any compatability issues what with it being an import? Am I going to be down on power still if I fit the above parts? Cheers

i would personally hold on and buy the exact replacement ,then you wont get any unsuspected issues,if any.not sure on the compatability.

Cheers for the help everyone. Looking at the pictures it all looks the same which is annoying lol. Does anyone know where there are likely to be any differences? The pack is in the same place as mine, the intercooler is the same, and it's from the same year? Really need the poxy thing back on the road for next week as got to get to work!

The engine code is totally different on the JDM Jap engine. That's a good indication it won't work. The cams are wilder as the standard BHP and Torque are much higher, 215 vs 280 JDM. The Turbo's are different. The wring harness will be different and the ECU.

Whole world of pain really.

Get a new UK block or a well rebuilt engine with uprated internals.
