Default Blitz Nur spec R Baffle - power reduction regained ?

As much as the Blitz R is nice in sound at idle etc, on a good hour drive, it becomes too much,so i fitted the Bung, the sound was then manageable.

But,it restricted the power,so i thought,hmmm

so,the tube that went inside the back box, i cut off LOL so i was just left with the piece that fits into the 5" tail tip,so i no longer have the long tube that runs inside the backbox, restricting the flow, but i do have the exit still being restricted.

The sound is still manageable,a smidge louder than with the whole lot fitted

so,is this enough to reduce the restricition,or new exhaust time ? When you look down the inside of,say, a hks The tip is say 5" but inside is still 2.5-3"

this is the bung

and with that turbo spooling and the blitz noise sounds so nice i love it lol

Ha ha i must have soft ears, dunno how you can drive it without the bung, i did for a while,it just sounded so drony,it lost the burble sweetness i thought,i hear a blobeye go by with a subtle 2.5" exit and it sounds so nice LOL,rather than the roar of the Blitz.

Is the Hi power still loud tho,or pretty lame ?

My postman ordered a blitz nur spec r for his P1 from japan about 10 years ago at a cost of £730. It was one of the best sounding exhaust notes I had ever heard, and I always vowed if I owned a Scooby I would get one. After owning 3 subaru's I opted for the afterburner vortex, as after driving my mates car for a month with a nur spec r fitted it is just to ott IMHO . Surprisingly when our cars are parked side by side and then started up the vortex is slightly louder on tickover, but as soon as the revs rise the blitz is way louder. The bung makes the car more pleasurable on long motorway journeys, but you are restricting the exhaust gases so you do not have the same performance . Also worth mentioning that a mega loud exhaust is not always the best flowing,as systems like the hks silent power/vortex afterburner can give slightly better performance than a nur spec r.

I've got a Nur Spec R on my blob eye, and i love it, though it annoys the locals at 4am when im on an early shift..lol.
During the summer, i had to take my other half to Cardif, from London...no trains.
She had a wedding of a friend, so i thought a nice quiet burble accross the country would be nice. I bung in my bung, and it was such a peacful ride down, didnt go above 70, as i wasnt in a hurry.
On the way home though, diffrent story, put my foot down and well...i took me about 10 mins to ralise the car was louder. Pulled over to remove my bung, and no bung.
So if a bung is found near the England Wales border, it's mine...lol..

ive one and removed it last night, god its loud lol. felt bad going past houses late. does removing it increase flow any though, im unsure if it does as the long insert that goes into the exhaust ensure there is a smooth flow? does it reduce the diameter?

that's an old thread should start new, but to answer your question mines is mapped with it out and Andy Forrest stated not to use it whilst on boost due to the flow restriction, i don't floor it until its out

conversely, when mine was rr'd by jgm with the bung in, he advised me not to remove it as it could lean out the mixture enough to cause me problems.

please note.. Simon didn't map my car.. it's using some ebay chip or other so i'm kind of stuck with the current map.

cheers,

MArk.
