UK heads or ST???
Hey guys...
I'm spec'ing up my build...
i'm aiming for 400BHP roughly, and was wondering if at this power output would it be worthwhile in swapping my standard heads out for v5/6 STi heads?
i'm picking a set up next week, but just would like too know what if any results wise i would get with these instead of the uk heads.
car is 99 uk turbo

Hello Mate,
I have a 95wrx import and have decided to fit V3 sti heads due to the different cam profiles, the sti's heads usualy have shims(solid lifters) and the wrx's are hydraulic.
The solid lifter is, in my opinion better for higher rpm power only limited by cams, springs, valves and flow. Have'nt got the spec on the cams or the differance between the two, I have read on SN that the cams are more aggressive but not seen any actual measurements.
I will be fitting V3 sti heads with a V1 inlet manifold to a forged 2.0L cdb.
I was going to use V5 sti heads but the inlets are different.
Will let you know how it works out.
Good luck with your one.
regards,
Greg

You will get some good gains by fitting the STi V5~6/P1 heads when remapped and you wont run the risk of spitting out a shim (over bucket on the UK'99) when fitting the STi heads (under bucket shims) when your running good power.
The STi has better head castings, cams, better rate springs (pink colour coded) and sodium filled exhaust valves to dissipate the heat better.
