Default wire identification

right had a search carnt find anything got 97 impreza was looking at my ecu earlyer to check some stuff out and noticed a bigish white block connector with bout 20 wires going into it but not connected to anything whats it for?

i will grab one tommoro didnt think earlyer just very strange dont think it does anything but still got me wondering

think all the modles have the same wiring loom some wires arent used for certain modles might be something for the auto gearbox cruise controll etc...
