spluttering and not revving properly!!
car is a v3 sti with simtek and few mods
and after finally starting it i warmed it up for around 20min (it was parked up for around 2-3weeks)
when i was about to pull off,it wouldnt pik revs up and would only rev to 3krpm and revs started dropping when foot was down so once i let go of revs it idled where it should...
iv had new plugs in and gapped, also serviced it recently
anyone had similar problems?
could this be a knock sensor?
help please as im getting very frustrated looking at it and not being able to drive it
thanks in advance

could be absolutely anything chap!! huge boost leak, knackered coil pack...
I seem to remeber the classics limiting the Revs to 3K ish when there was something wrong with a wheel speed sensor !
sounds like the ECU is doing what it should be doing though and chucked it in to limp mode!

You wont vbe able to use the plugs under vthe dash if you have a simtek as they only vwork with vthe oe ecu. If vyouve still got standard ecu plug it in and see if there is any faults. I thought your mapper would have advised you to keep standard ecu.

i still have the standard ecu but its not in a casing...
i have put a new coil pack in but will check for boost leaks... i know i can throw endless amount of parts without diagnosis but i have access to all sensors and bits so isnt a issue..however i think its easier to put standard ecu back in and check code, will double check with my mapper if its ok

Bttt I took the knock sensor off today and what a pain in the **** it was to get to,however once I managed to undo the 12mm bolt I took it out and found that the wire was broken,I trace it back to the loom and have been told there should be a white plug to disconnect but mine hasn't got one I have took a pic of the sensor and wondered if the cracks would be the issue of my car? I.e not revving smooth and not going past 3krpm

glad u got it running mate
im getting sick of mine now!!!! i just changed the knock sensor on my car...let it warm up and guess what...it hasnt cured the problem
i think im going to get a standard ecu and plug it in to find any fault codes, think thats my best option...was really looking forward for the drive aswell

i have put standard ecu back in,its showing code 23 which i have checked is MAF
however mine is mafless as i have a simtek and obviously the old ecu cant bypass MAF,
it keeps flashing 2 slow and 3fast (23) does that mean if i have any other fault it wont tell me as i will have to replace MAF first or would it flash after the first code if it did have another fault?

right,i have put MAF in and now doesnt flash at all,the fans come on when i turn ignition (not start) and boost solenoid is clicking
i revved it and it still has same problem after putting standard ecu back in...seems like it just wants to stay idling and not rev lol
any ideas? surely it must have happened to someone before?
