Default Any ideas?

Hi all, noticed this morn when starting my98 uk turbo, a bit of blue smoke. I thought straight away rings, however a mate suggested the turbo might be leaking, this was due to de-cat 2 days ago. I didnt notice it then, and I must admit that the decat didnt give it the punch my previous one had?????

Any thoughts?

Is it just on start up or on boost?

Hmm....could be the valve stem seals leaking into combustion chamber? Or if it's on boost the fitting of a new decat dp could have reduced back pressure, which can lead to turbo seals going.....

Possible valve seals.

I would be hoping it's the turbo.

Yea man I'd be hoping it's the turbo too. At least ya can upgrade to a td05 for pretty cheap. I'm sure I spotted a few for sale in the classified section for a max of £80.

When you come back from a journey (engine therefore well upto temp , etc.), leave it to idle for 5 mins. Then rev the engine; is there any blue plumes of smoke billowing out the tailpipe.

If so, this is normally a sign of the turbo's oil seals, or thrust bearing, failing...

Right update guys, started the car this morn from cold and had a huge white plume appear??? Then first few times I let boost gradually kick in, there was a bit of blue smoke. Once warm, it appears there is nothing under boost or decel.
