i would replace both banjo bolts as the vf28 is a ball bearing turbo and your td04 is not and therefore the vf28 uses less oil, and the vf28 banjos restrict the amount of oil going to the turbo, so play a big part.

Turbo end 15194AA130

just do turbo end ,i just paid about 12-13 quid for a bolt from dealer had to wait 2 weeks to come direct from japan as subaru uk had none.

head one is same size hole just has a filter which alot say leave out anyway.

Different antifreeze requires different mix ratios.
Subarus are aluminium alloy blocks and heads so get the right antifreeze and read the instructions from the manufacturer.

Bloody hell. £12-£13 for a banjo bolt???
I may have one here from a scrap VF28. Will look on Tueday.

+1 for the above, the bottom bolt to the block cost £22.00(+ filter) from subaru uk,and is not really needed, just get the one into the turbo.

The banjo bolt on the turbo restricts oil flow compared with the banjo bolt for a TD05 for instance.

If you are serious you really are very foolish.
For the reasons explained above, on several posts, these engines should be run on "Antifreeze" all the year round and only run on tap water briefly to determine the source of any leaks.

Sorry. Missed that.
Glad the car in question thawed out without major damage. I do think with temperatures that we experienced here of -13 to -19C there had to be a fair bit of antifreeze in the syatem to "get away with it"
Very lucky. Don't tempt fate again.
