Default over boost problem

hi guys, bought my first scoob on friday and im having a bit of a problem with boost. its a 1998 uk turbo 2000 with a hks turbo back exhaust, sti intercooler and a hks dump valve. when accelerating boost will increase to 1 bar on the gauge and the car will run great but then the needle will go off the scale and the engine will loose all power for a split second before cutting back in. this will continue all the way through the rev range. have been advised it sounds like its over boosting and hitting fuel cut, but ive also been told that only the sti has a fuel cut defender? have done the bcs test and its clicking away and all pipes seem ok. has anyone had a similar problem? or any ideas what the problem could be?

any help would be much appreciated and thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.

Hit the search button and search for the word 'boost' in this section only. We get asked this question at least 16 times a week so there is loads of info here to read. It'll probably be something very simple.
