Default whats the idle air control solenoid

hi, ive just had a check engine code number 24 (idle air control solenoid) on my 95 sti, the thing is i dont know where it is or what it does, the idle is up and down now pretty bad, any help would be great, thanks very much, phil.

little black looking box thing by the throttle body...ill see if i can find a pic

ah, i thought that was the throttle body sensor, or am i looking at the wrong thing?

i see it, i was looking at the wrong bit, thanks for the pic, very helpful,
anyone know what could be wrong with one when it comes up as a code?
