Question Metal scraping/grinding after hard braking?!

I've just had to hit the brakes hard on my way home and when I pulled off again there was a loud metallic scraping noise, it sounded as though something was dragging on the floor. I got out and had a look and could see nothing so drove on and the noise dissapeared after a couple hundred yards.
I've noticed recently a noise from the brakes when I lifted off them after coming to a stop that sounded like a sticking caliper, are they related?
The car is under warranty so it's going in tomorrow to get checked out but dont want to be fobbed off so would like some advice from you clever lot

Depends on how much meat is on the pads , they have metal scrapers on them , when they wear down the scrapers scrape on the discs and make an annoying noise telling you its time to change them
Or it could be a lip on the discs that is touching the backing plate of worn pads , if your under warranty just get them to check them out
Cheers Ian
