Can't get bonet open?

Ive got a 2003 wrx and for the last 2 years ive been checking the oil and levels weekly, today i pull the lever and nothing bonnet won't pop, Any idea's

Will it open if somebody else pulls the catch while you lift the bonnet ? If so i'd say your cable has stretched.

have you tried lifting the bonnet up? occasionally they don't pop up properly but they still release, so then when you pull it pops up and you can open it.
