Default ecutek vs 2nd hand apexi

Dear all,

I have been weighing up potential mods vs a new car and I wondered if anyone could help on the above?

Planned:
TD04 Hybrid
Decat turbo back (sports cat if I can't find a friendly MOT station)
newage WRX intercooler
panel filter

Car:
Uk Turbo 2000 MY00

I believe the ECUtek remap to be around the 600-650 mark. For the same price I have seen the apexi ecu and hand commander for sale second hand. I assume that there would be a labour charge for fitting and mapping to my car.
Any idea on cost of this?

The advantage I was thinking of is that I could (please correct me if wrong) run two maps (have read about throttle switching and manual switching and wold appreciate feedback on this). one for fun and one for longer motorway cruises, letting the mrs drive (not being rude but she doesn't like the way it can suddenly accelerate). Is there a noticable saving to be made on petrol by going this route?

All advice welcome.

You cant get 2 maps on the MY00 ecu
If you wanted an enhancement then you would be looking at paying more like 1000+ for a more up to date ecu like a simtek (still waiting for the knock addition??) which can give you more than one map, though speak with a mapper (Richard@FB tuning, aka Fiestaboy on here) is a good start

And you cant get 2 maps on apexi either, what you can have on the ecutek is 2 boost setting. Apexi is a bit dated now. If your wantin 2 maps simtek supplied and mapped for classic is £1050 approx but will go up after the new year due to the vat goin up to 20%.

so the most cost effective way is ecutek and stay off the loud pedal on the motorway?

1050+ seems a little steep for my needs.
