Default v4 sti buckets

Hi all,

i got my new block and heads have been cleaned and skimmed, HOWEVER the guy took the cams and buckets/shims out and gave them to me in a bag.

(inner bucket shims)

the question i have is are the buckets to go in any order, or are they all the same...

If they are overbucket shims then they are not the STi variant - Only UK Turbo and WRX heads were OB shimed.

The buckets should all be the same size, but the shims are specifically sized to obtain the correct valve clearance. You should be able to see the size markings stamped on one face, or you'll need to measure them with a micrometer.

Install them, and check for suitable clearance (stock is 8 thou inlet, 10 thou exhaust) If they are close, bolt the heads on and recheck/ adjust to suit.

Same thing applies - All the buckets should be the same, shims are sized.

arr cool so to confirm the shims should have a marking on, like a 8 or 10?

Underbucket shims don't have a size marking stamped on, IIRC - Will need to be measured with a micrometer

You would need to know the size of the one needed first, then you could order from subaru or speak to enginetuner the clinic, api, or any specialist, The place that removed these obviously didnt have much of a clue or they would have kept them all individualy packed so you know where they go..
