Default SUMP REMOVAL

Hi guys, just a quick post to see if anyone has taken their sump off and

how big a job it was?? I think the cross member will foul the back bolts of

the sump? Is this right, and how do i get round this problem??

My car is a 96 classic type ra.

Any help or tips much appreciated. Tim.

Cheers for the reply, did you hav to un due your engine mounts to give you enough lift?

Anybody else with experience of sump removal?

Reason for sump coming off is fittment of a cosworth baffle plate.

Many thanx tim.

I had to undo engine mounts and lift the engine to get to the back bolts and even then they're not the easiest to get to

the bolts at the back are easy to get at if you have a universal joint on your socket and a bendy bar. you need a small socket set. the pig is lifting the engine high enough to get the sump past the headers. i had to take off some of the heat sheilds. engien mounts are only 1 bolt each side.

Drain the oil first and I think the guys here have covered it.
Undo the engine mounts and lift up the motor, you can use a car jack - just do it smoothly
Those bolts at the back are tight, and we take off the headers as our larger Sump fits up easier with some aftermarket headers taken off before the install - but you don't have too.

Good Luck
