Default slight knocking sound is this normal??

had my 2001 bug eye a week now, never owned a impreza before, the engine had a rebuilt by previous owner which included, new heads, crank\, pistons etc got reciept for 3200 pounds!! not sure if im being paranoid but when the engine is idling if i give a slight rev i seem to get a knocking type sound from rear left of engine bay near the turbo, as the revs go higher no sound can be heard, should i be concerned of this noise?

plus the fuel gauge always reads half a tank!! ive checked fuses they seem fine, when i turn on lights i dont get any warning light on the dash to let me know the lights are on!! just hoping engine management light comes on if there is a problem!

im based in germany so will be taking it to a local dealer a trying my best german in the morning just after any advice many thanks

From my understanding of what I've read here so far that sounds like Piston Slap. One of the experienced guys will help you out soon. I think as long as it goes when hot you should be OK, just don't quote me on it

Mines a V2 Classic..has slight slap when cold and idling...goe's when revved above 2k..and when warm...probable piston slap on mine...make sure there's good oil init and warm up and cool down properly before any "spirited driving" and youll survive....for a bit:P

Depends on how uve used the car i think...after a hard spirited drive on boost..last few miles keep off boost and keep the rev;s low...then leaving it to idle for a minute before turning the car off?? think that's the best way so ive been told
