I know i am not the only one having problems with the Subaru Immobiliser (transponder key type) when parking near radio masts not been able to get the car started.

So what i want to Know is what people have done to overcome this problem apart from not parking near radio masts

My car is a 1999 v5 Y7 ecu but i believe the Immobiliser is not in the ecu on these late classics

I had this problem with my old V5. I had a key pad for the alarm in the glove box which I used when the alarm wouldn't work. My new V5 has a Clifford.
The other alternative is to push the car out of the range of the mast

you can go to subaru and they do some sort of upgrade of the ecu for around £70 which will solve it or you could use the 4 pin code on the keypad

The alarm works fine and the key pad but i understand the alarm and the Immobiliser on this year of car are 2 separate units.
I have tried at home taken the chip out of the key putting the key in the ignition then entering my code on the key pad but all this does is enter the programming mode of the alarm and the Immobiliser led on the dash just keeps flashing
