over last few days it would appear my starter motor is failing, i turn the key and it is as if it thinks about it this morning i held the key in crank position for about 2 seconds before she turned over, i have had for a schematic to see if there is anything between the ignition key and the starter motor but can't find 1,
any help would be great

probably a sticky solinoid on the starter mate.Next time you try to start it and it dosent start staight away go out and tap the solinoid on the starter and try again. If its this a second hand starter can be picked up for 20-25£.

Deffo agree on the solenoid....although only experience with probvlem ones was on rovers and fords !
Changes in weather can affect them, cold weather tend to get sticky and don't want to work (ford) and too hot weather just don't work at all (seems totally dead with no noise on turn over at all - until cooler again when they miraculously work (This happened on 2 different rovers- totally took ignition apart on one cos I though it was the wiring on ignition at first)
Normally when you take to garages they just say it's OK now and to keep an eye on it then charge you half hour labour - if you can get another solenoid at scrappy's then fit it !
