How can I tell if my 06 wrx has ppp or Ecutek?
Hi,
I am the second owner of my car (an 06 wrx hawkeye). The previous owner being a woman who rarely drove it. It was totally standard when I bought it and have since only fitted an after market back box.
Recently had it rolling roaded at my local Ecutek station DSA in Aylesbury and it made 253.3bhp on the rollers. Quite happy with that for a standard car!
They do a lot of subarus at DSA so I trust the results. Especially as other mates cars were under performing on the day!
How can I tell if my car has already had a ppp or Ecutek remap at some point? Will it show on the ECU or engine bay somewhere? There is nothing indicated on the paperwork and can see no stickers anywhere on the car showing it!!
Secondly, if it has already had a base map done, will my next remap be cheaper? as i'm now looking to mod the car and get the bhp up.
Cheers, Andy

Do you have a blue intercooler hose and Prodrive back box for a start?
If the car has PPP, you will still have to pay for the licence if you go down the Ecutek route at a later date.
If you supply Subaru with the chassis number, they will tell you if its fitted with PPP or not.

Nope, not full ppp. Car was shandard until I put the back box on. Standard intercooler hose still. No visable mods.
The mapper said the power curve looked like a remapped car though, had similar characteristicts. I cant find anything to say it has been mapped, so I am guessing its standard but just up on bhp.
Just wanted to know if there were any physical ways of telling if the ECU had been mapped?
Thanks, Andy

PPP will generally never make claimed figures on a RR as the increased inlet temps you get with this will result in the ECU cutting boost etc. My WRX PPP does not boost the same if you boot it immediately after sitting in a queue of traffic for a while for example.
Thus the car may have PPP fitted - check the brochure you can download on Prodrive's website to see what all is fitted. That or contact Subaru as suggested.
