Hi, i am looking for a turbo that can get my 2.0 sti newage with AVCS to between 440-470 bhp. i do not just want big figures, i want it to be a very good drive, by that i mean not laggy and dropping off boost all the time. i know i need a lot of supporting mods and mapping etc, but that will come later. i have had a conversation with stevesbluewrx and many thanks to him for answering my questions, from what he says the MD321T is too laggy for me. i know i am asking a lot from a turbo on a 2.0, to be powerful and spool up quickly as well but i want recommendations as to which turbo best suits my needs, the turbo must do the following on a 2.0 sti with AVCS:

1. must be able to produce 440-470 bhp on v-power and also plenty of torque.
2. must pin me back in my seat with quite a lot of force.
3. standard position turbo and also have the least lag possible, perfectly drivable on our roads, not dropping off boost all the time.

I know no turbo is a perfect all rounder on a 2.0 but i want a lot of fun.

will appreciate any contribution and recommendation, the turbo can be a HS,AF,SC,MD,GT anything, and not overly expensive, around the £1400 mark brand new.

Thanks and yeah i know, thats a big want list, but want to hear views before parting with the hard earnt..

Getting prepared to get told off by someone.

you don't want much do you. any turbo you pick is going to be a compromise what ever you do. i would pick your mapper very carefully.

i would say your standard position turbo is going to be a tough one.

probably depends on who your mapper is but, when i am driving fast, say putting my foot down with a mate, the stretch is just over a 1/4 mile and i am told that the T spools to late for that type of driving.

Is there a turbo that produces figures like the T and yet spools even quicker?

also does your car drop off boost a lot B0DSKI, do you have a 3 port boost solenoid?

Personally I wouldent say a T with AVCS heads will be too laggy TBH.

Prodrive 3 port solenoid. Holds 1.4 Bar to the redline

I'd say you need to comprimise and go with an md321h as it spools very well
and will produce around 400 bhp. Your not going to get a turbo that does everything your asking, to reach what you want just on v-power and std
position your need an md321t and i dont think you will like the lag from what
your saying.

The 321h will tick 2 out of your 3 boxes.

Im stuck between the H and the T.
I feel myself slightly in favor of the T.
Unless there is a best of both worlds turbo.

MD321V should give you the figures you want, but not sure how laggy it is.

You are going to struggle to just bolt the turbo on and get the figures you want.

i think the MD321V will be very laggy as the T is on the border and the V is even bigger. i will be doing supporting mods etc as i want the most from my engine but be safe as well.

"Safe", "470hp" and "standard newage STi engine" are not a combination of words that i would necessarily put together, no matter who is mapping it

I have never said the the T was Laggy . I just said it was later spooling.

I found the T works very well for my style of driving. The newage STi 2.0 with AVCS it works a treat meaning I can take it very easy then put my foot down and BANG. Power is there.

Tazz, by the sounds of things matey you need a quick turbo hence why I said the H would be better but may not get you the top bhp over a T it would give you some nice power and torque.

As said before mate. Give Mark a buzz.
