Default Gearbox.... An easy fix??

Since owning my00 classic tubz, the gear leaver has always been able to sit either in the middle or to the left and not spring back, any ideas? I've also noticed that it's particularly hard to get into 5th when giving it the beans, however when stationary with the clutch in its as smooth as anything??

Is it easy to get to bud? Will I have to start taking things apart?
