Default Forge recirculating dump valve

Hi all,

I fitted my forge dump valve last night and took it out for a run. The thing is that it wasn't making much of a noise, almost silent. Is this because my wrx is standard or is it because i need to adjust something.
advise would be appreciated.

Cheers
Jamie

if its a 'recirculating dump valve' i dont think it should make a noise. a 'vent to air dump valve' goes 'whoosh'. im just waiting on an original recirc one to put back on mine.

The only reason i thought it made a noise was because i was on youtube and looked at different dump valves on subarus and the was a white sti hawkeye that had it on and was making the "woosh" noise oh well got it for £27 anyway new. ebay is great. suppose it does make a bit of a difference, more responsive if anything. its proberly one of those things you dont realise how good they are until you have had it on for a while.

If you indeed do have a recirculating valve then it should dump straight back into the intake system and will hardly be noticeable as its not venting the the air and creating the ptsshh sound you were looking for. However the car you saw on the net may have been running an induction kit in which case the re-circ valve will create feedback noise through that, or it could have had an external wastegate. could be anynumber of different reasons chap - Im sure you will also read on here that recirc valves are probably better for keeping the enging running smoothly and keeping it safe from overfuelling anyhow.

The forge recirc is no real difference to the oe std valve apart from being silver and shiny and operates exactly the same as a std recirc does,so you wont get any noise as it feeds the excess air back into the inlet tract. As said above an induction kit can can make a similar sort of noise as a dumpvalve when your flooring the throttle and then lift off. This is just induction roar as the filter draws in the air.
