Default 97 WRX Engine... CDB or Semi? and will the crank be cross drilled and tuftrided?

As per title.

Will a '97 WRX Engine be CDB or semi closed?

... and will the crank be cross drilled and tuftrided?

Thanks

Classics had cdb's on the early wrx's (and sti), open after that, new age have open on wrx and semi closed on sti's, no classic has a nitrided/cross drilled crank, those are only on the JDM twin scroll cars which were 2003 onwards.

Tony mate, when you say "early" classics... how early are you talking?

Probably not unless its an RA, seemed to be the K and L plate 93/94 WRX's that had CDB.

Its a stronger block, shame the internals are chocolate (but you wouldnt notice how strong the block is unless your running 500+ bhp).

There are actually 4 types out there:
CDB with bore squirters.
Open Deck with bore squirters ( not many of these left out there now).
Open Deck.
Semi Closed Deck

I'd of not believed that until I split an ODB recently and low and behold it had squirters.

You can also get a CDB without squirters, as found on the 22b.
