Question Fuel pumps dead!

Hi peeps, went to start car after work and it was a no go! I have 99 T 2000 classic.

100% fuel pump in tank not working as I can't hear it working when ignition on unless I slap tank!

Question is, can I just replace it with a walbro 255 or is the walbro an add on to the original? Also what side is the pump on? Left or right when looking in boot?

Thanks 

under the back seat drivers side . under a panel with screws . but check the wiring block under seat before you replace pump as that was all that was wrong with mine . corroded up and battered from my kids jumping in the car

Can just replace the OE unit with a 255 (it is not an addition), but I would think you'd be best advised to get a remap/tweek as it will more than likely overfuel and/or run like a dog. Certainly wouldn't run on boost until it was mapped correctly if it were me...

Cheapest option would be to replace with an OE one for the time being to get it running - piece of p1ss to do really. If it helps:

Pulled seat up, no panels. Pulled carpet up in boot (saloon scoob) and there is a panel either side with screws.

Thanks

Have all supporting mods already but mapper said the OE pump would suffice. But as it's now died (a year on) thought I'd bash one in now 

Put a walbro one in, probably cheaper than a standard pump from the main stealers, and wont need a remap as it will be running the same pressure through the standard oe regulater. Pump is located in the tank, open the boot and as you look in its the right hand side. Remove the 4 screws then remove the electrical connecters, 3 hoses and ring of 10mm nuts and it should lift out with a bit of a wiggle. It is also best to remove the back of the back seat as it helps when refitting. Dont use the walbro sock that comes with the pump as its crap, refit the subaru sock filter to the walbro pump. Hope this helps...

Thanks bud, just popped back to work and had a look. Easy peasy!! Plus thanks for heads up on the filter. The mapper said the same thing about the reg so saved me £70 at the time. As its now dead seems like the right time to fit a Walbro then I can start to save money for me new turbo
