TD04 would be standard turbo for the bugeye WRX.........a bit asthmatic on a 2.5 litre. It would have had to have been re-mapped to get it to run so looking at 260 BHP.

The small TD04 just can't flow enough air to get much more, low down torque would be better than the 2.0 though.

Original UK Bug WRX left the factory aroung 215BHP

cool thanks ive found out the car has had a remap by andy forrest costing £500 on the receipt i have it says new 2.5 sti short engine and new turbo so im not sure if it is the turbo from the sti engine or just a new td04 one but the work was done by a subaru garage in scotland so im guessing it would more likely be the one from the sti

If you still have the original WRX Bug 5 speed gearbox then Andy would have tuned the engine to stop it breaking, typically 325 BHP and 290/300 torque

i bought the car for £5.970, it was goin for £6,400 not a bad buy i thought and off a dealer, unfortunately there was no print out off what the car is running at and we've been through the paper work i have a rough guesstimate the car could be sat between 260-290 so if thats the case then im chuffed to bits thanks for your help guys

also with the new 2.5 sti short engine the car has had a new turbo, it has had the work done by subaru, but im unsure if the new turbo would be a new one from the 2,0 wrx or would it be a one from the 2.5 sti engine? your thoughts are much appreciated

You should contact Andy F. via email. Give him the cars details and ask the cars spec. He should be able to tell you which turbo and power you're likes! www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk he has a contact link on him site.

Or even try finding the previous owners details from where you bought it from or ask about the forums if anyone knows the car? Should be on the forums considering the work that it's had done.

Hope you get to the bottom of it and find out the full spec of what's been done.
